24 actor Robert Carlyle is dipping his toes into a new pool.
He's been signed up for the Sci-Fi channel's new Stargate series.
It's called Stargate Universe and promises to be out of this world.
According to Reuters, the third instalment, which follows on from SG-1 and Atlantis, is expected to start production in Vancouver in February next year.
The Sci-Fi channel's Mark Stern has been quoted as saying Carlyle "Brings a depth, intelligence and complexity to his roles."
What does the new Stargate storyline promise?
Reports say we'll follow a group of soldiers, civilians and scientists fighting for survival when they're forced through a Stargate after their base is attacked.
Leading the group is Dr David Rush, aka Robert, who we recently saw in 24's Redemption with Kiefer Sutherland.
