Yasmina SiadatanYasmina SiadatanAfter a gruelling 12-week job interview, Yasmina Siadatan was named Sir Alan Sugar's Apprentice for 2009.

We caught up with Yas to find out why Sir Alan chose her for the top job.

Why do you think Sir Alan hired you?
I don't think there was one particular thing in the end that won it for me. The kind of job he's got lined up, I'd imagine somebody like me was going to fit that better than somebody like Kate.

But Sir Alan described it better than anybody when he said: "I can't really put into words why I'm hiring Yasmina, it's a gut instinct." And that's a big compliment in my eyes.

Do you think your new salary will change your life?
I think the job will change my life, I'm going into a completely different industry. But the money isn't going to change anything. I'll be the same old me, but I'll have a new job.

What does the job entail?
I'm going to be working for Amscreen, which is a digital signage company. We'll be getting advertising onto screens used in the NHS. Lee McQueen also works for the company, but he's on the retail side.

Do you think Kate's relationship with Phil affected her performance?
I don't think so, I think it caused Phil a few problems and it got him fired. I think with Kate there was an element of 'too good to be true', I think her perception was her downfall. I think the way Kate handled herself is fantastic. The girl is spot on.

Your interview with Claude wasn't your finest moment...
I went in to see Claude and expected it to be a normal interview and it turned into a raw interrogation about my business accounts. At the end of the day, they're pushing buttons to see how you'll react and I got flustered.

Was that your lowest point?
When we had the sandalwood and cedarwood task I thought I was going to get fired. It was horrendous. Literally like your heart dropping out of the bottom of your pants. I just felt guilty.

Would you recommend The Apprentice for people looking to get ahead in business?
I would recommend it to certain people, but there are others who I would say, 'this is the last thing in the world you should be doing'. This show is all about profit and being tenacious. You have to be loud and be able to put up with loud people.

How much of the show is about business and how much of it is game-playing?

For me business is a bit of game. You are just a pawn in this huge game and it's great fun.

Do you have any advice for those considering applying for next year's Junior Apprentice?
I'd say go for it. Don't be scared, it won't be as tough as the normal version, I think Sir Alan will be a bit more 'softly, softly'. If you've got a good business mind and you want to show what you're capable of then do it.

What do you think of the candidates who have clearly been trying to break the media industry.
I've been really shocked by the whole thing. I would never put myself up for anything like that and I'd like to think the candidates were in it for the same reasons. I think heads get turned and some of them are young and impressionable. But I wish them all the best.
