Cheryl ColeCheryl Cole... "terrified" of singing liveX Factor judge Cheryl Cole is set to make her solo debut on this weekend's show.

But fans hoping she'll be singing live like the acts she mentors will be sorely disappointed, as her performance of new single Fight For This Love will be filmed in advance.

Cheryl confirmed the news on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 show this morning, explaining that she'll sing on Sunday in front of the audience before the live show begins.

"I've got to get out of the chair on to the stage and back in the chair within a certain amount of time," said Cheryl. "And with the surprises that's going on on the stage there just isn't time to turn it around."

The Girls Aloud singer also admitted that she is "terrified" to be sharing the bill with diva Whitney Houston.

"The nerves started weeks ago," she said. "I love performing, but I've sat for weeks judging people and then I'm putting myself out there to be judged. It's a weird feeling... And I'm on my own."

The news comes following criticism of Alexandra Burke's performance on Sunday's live show, where the reigning X Factor champion appeared to be miming to a backing track.

Cheryl, who mentored the 2008 winner to victory last year, defended Alexandra during the breakfast show, claiming that Alexandra didn't need to prove her voice by singing live.

"I didn't think she was miming," insisted Cheryl. "I was just so caught up in the whole production and performance… I was like having a whirl of a time that I wasn't even thinking about is she miming or is she not."

But she did admit that Alex could have been singing along to a backing track. "Maybe there was parts of it that she had to, humanly, you go and run on a treadmill and try and sing a song, it's not possible. It wasn't a Britney case, definitely not, Britney mimed to her record."

Cheryl added: "Alexandra hasn't got to prove herself that she can sing, to be fair, we all know Alexandra can sing. So I don't think there is an argument in that respect."
