Rumour has reached us that the birthday girl, wearing little more than her birthday suit at her lavish birthday bash this week, was told that she’s being lined up to front The X Factor in the USA.

We’ve also heard that senior executives from NBC are due to fly to Manchester this weekend to see how our Chez performs at the live auditions.

An industry insider told the Daily Mirror: “Simon is on the brink of signing a deal to take The X Factor to America and, if he gets his way, Cheryl will be its star.

He thinks she has amazing presence and her down-to-earth Northern charm will appeal to the American public.”

The X Factor is Simon’s most successful UK TV show and he’d apparently love to take it to the ‘States. He can’t front it as he’s tied into a deal with American Idol but would love to see Cheryl in the role.

We’re pleased to see a home-grown girl done good but have to wonder, will our pals across the pond understand Cheryl’s Geordie twang, or will she need subtitles a la SuBo?
