Annual geek-fest Comic-Con took place over the weekend, featuring Q&As with stars from Doctor Who, Torchwood, True Blood, Heroes and more.

Doctor Who
After speculation that show bosses would announce a Doctor Who movie featuring The Other Doctor and Rose set in the parallel world, exec producer Julie Gardner put the kibosh on the project, saying there would not be any announcement about a Who movie "but what it's made us think is that it might be a good idea to do it at some point."
Euros Lynn, director of David Tennant's final episode entitled The End Of Time, recalled scoring with Murray Gold, who apparently started "sobbing uncontrollably" when they got to the final 20 minutes. "It's just overwhelming. You will need Kleenex. He will knock four times," warned the director.
But the real treat was a gasp-inducing advance look at David’s swan song on the series which features the chilling statement: "It is said that in the final days of the planet Earth, everyone had bad dreams," Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble, Lucy Saxon (Alexandra Moen), and the return of John Simm as The Master! "He returns!"
Finally, when asked whether he would consider coming back for charity specials or similar, David teased: "Who knows? The dust has to settle. But it's the fiftieth anniversary in 2013, isn't it?"

Torchwood
First and foremost, the panel were faced with a barrage of complaints from fans about the death of Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) in Children Of Earth.
Russell T Davies remained stoic in his response: "They always said it: people die young in Torchwood. They just do. It's a dangerous world. It was sad, yes. But we were all sad. but that's the way it is. I made the decision: it was the best thing for the story, and it just had to happen. Blame me if you like - my show. He's dead, he's not coming back. Sorry, but that's it."
"It's the cost of making Captain Jack a hero. He has to suffer: he has to go through that in order to be the hero," added Julie Gardner.
On to lighter subjects as an audience member asked if John Barrowman might lend his talents to a musical episode of Torchwood: "No. It doesn't lend itself to that, as much as my musical side would love that. I get to do that in film, on stage, so it probably won't happen."
Russell added: "When Buffy The Vampire Slayer did that, you could not top that. You couldn't even try. It was perfect."

True Blood
We may have only just discovered the greatness of True Blood, but in the states they're preparing for season three, and it looks like the sexual tension continues to simmer between psychic Sookie (Anna Paquin) and bloodsucker Bill (Stephen Moyer). There are also rumours that a love triangle is in the pipeline as Sookie continues to be attracted to dark and dangerous types.
Says show star Anna Paquin: "What's fun about it is it's set up to create that tension. I think it's very clever the way that's constructed because it makes that entertaining."
The supernatural element of the series is also set to step up a notch with the revelation that shapeshifters and werewolves are also causing trouble in Bon Temps.
And finally, in an example of the loopiest merchandising campaign since Coronation Street beer, show bosses announced that a Real True Blood beverage - apparently a "tasty orange soda drink" - will be hitting US supermarkets in September. Hmm... not sure our fandom would persuade us to give that a try.

Chuck
Show creator Josh Schwartz promised that something emotional and traumatic will happen to Chuck (Zach Levi) and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) during the show's third season, teasing: "Is that vague enough for you?" Luckily, the panel was more forthcoming.
Season three will see Chuck get in on the action as he begins to develop powers thanks to the intersect. But there's a glitch in the system that's bound to give good comedy.
Captain Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) is set to become involved in the spy world, there's a possibility that Casey (Adam Baldwin) and Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) will hook up, and Sarah's sister Corinna will return.

Smallville
Much Smallville news was broken, including the return of several iconic characters, the introduction of Major (not General yet) Zod (Callum Blue) and a preview that showed a very sexy love scene between Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois (Erica Durance).
We also learned that Clark will finally don a suit (though not the traditional superman get up), his inability to fly will be explained and that the theme of season nine will be "Clark's darkest hour". Hmm.. sounds ominous.
"I think you guys are going to be pretty excited this year," said Erica regarding the Clark and Lois progression. "Lois is dealing with being smitten with Superman and still finds Clark irritating." This season is going to be 'spicy'," she added. Lois and Clark will definitely grow closer this year, but there's a love triangle between Clark, Lois and the Blur.
There'll also be a lot more of the Green Arrow next season (Justin Hartley), but Oliver's story is set to get darker as we see him "hit rock bottom" when his relationship with Clark is tested to the limit.

Heroes
Show creator Tim Kring set up volume five, titled Redemption, in which we'll see the heroes return to their normal lives.
"We're creating a new wrinkle in the mythology of the show," explained Tim. "There is a family of people with these powers who had figured out to live alongside us and hide in plain sight. We created this idea of a carnival... They have been hiding all this time, coming in and out of our view. The carnival will now show itself."
"It's a chance for us to go back and strip away some of the story elements that make the show harder to go back to," he continued. "So Claire's in college, Peter's a paramedic, Nathan's a senator and Matt's a detective again."
And Zachary Quinto gave a few hints on how Sylar will return: "My character really exists in two places. One is with Adrian, then the other is inside Matt Parkman's head. That's a lot of fun for me."
