Carla Gordon played by Alison KingCarla Gordon played by Alison KingBosses have axed fight scenes between Coronation Street's Carla Gordon (Alison King) and Jimmy Dockerson (Robert Beck) because they were too violent.

The actors filmed a gruelling punch up which left them both battered and bruised.

Alison said: "It was a real scrap. The bits I did see that weren't in the actual episode were quite vile and scary."

The actress has been away on maternity leave tending to her 10 month old daughter Daisy May, but last night she returned to the cobbles with a vengeance.

Carla wants her estranged hubby Tony out of street and won't rest until the job is done, if he doesn't go, she'll tell all about his murderous secret.

Tony, not one to take things lying down calls on his old pal Jimmy Dockerson, he wants him to get rid of Carla. For good.

By the end of the week, Carla is fighting for her life. Jimmy follows Carla back to her flat and tries to kill her.

The fight scenes were full-on and in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Alison said: "We did two long days filming to make it look as realistic as possible - at the end I was covered in bruises."

Actor Robert Beck who plays henchmen Jimmy, didn't get off lightly either. He broke his thumb whilst battling with Alison.

Alison explained: "We had to stop filming because Robert got his thumb bent backwards in between the sofa and my fat ass... we had to stop the scene and come back to it two weeks' later when he was better."

According to reports, some of the scenes between the pair were deemed too violent and were left on the cutting room floor.

Alison added: "Carla was literally fighting for her life with a man who wanted to kill her, so it had to be really guttural - a lot of horrible noises came out of me."

But Alison who has worked on action scenes before in a number of films, was able to do her own stunts.

Carla whacks Jimmy over the head with a wrought-iron candlestick leaving him lying in a pool of blood. Crikey!
