Becky McDonald finds out she’s pregnant on New Year’s Eve but she’s not happy about it.

And not just because the pint swilling barmaid will have to knock booze on the head, Becky (Katherine Kelly) thinks she’d make a terrible mum. She’s so terrified she even considers having an abortion.

We hear that she’ll confide in her surrogate mum, Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) about her fears, saying: “I never want to give birth. My genes are rotten and God help any child who inherited them.”

However, husband (Simon Gregson) Steve is desperate to expand his family.

Becky keeps her pregnancy secret from him and tells him she definitely doesn’t want kids. He retorts: “I wish you’d told me before we got married.”

Although we can’t help but think if it was so important to him he could have asked.

As Katherine mentioned to us in our exclusive interview, she knew that kids may be on the cards for the loved-up couple. It's just a shame the bundle of joy currently isn't.

There’s set to be a whole heap of baby blues on the cobbles this Christmas. Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) will also find out she’s pregnant but not know whether the dad is husband Tyrone (Alan Hysall) or greasy lover Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). Silly girl.
