Andrew Sachs is set to walk the streets of Weatherfield this month.
The actor has landed the part of Norris Cole’s long-lost brother in Corrie, his first prime-time role since Fawlty Towers.
Sachs came up with the idea of playing Norris’ (Michael Hebden) brother, Ramsey Clegg, eight years ago but soap producers sat on the idea until July when he was offered the part.
Contracts were signed in January, three months after the infamous “Sachsgate” scandal when Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand left rude messages on Sachs’ answering machine about his granddaughter Georgina.
Speaking to The Guardian Weekend magazine, Sachs said of the affair: “I came out of it very well. My profile's up. Great! They did me good. Thank you very much."
Ramsey walks back into Norris’ life on May 15.
