The ghost of Christmas past is alive and well over in Crooked House.
The League of Gentlemen's Mark Gatiss has written three spine-chilling episodes.
First up in the trilogy is The Wainscoting, which begins in the present day. Ben, a teacher has moved into a new house and finds an old door knocker in his garden.
Taking it to the local museum curator he discovers that it belonged to Geap Manor a once grandeur Tudor mansion.
Now demolished, the haunted mansion housed a number of unlucky inhabitants. Ben is keen to hear the 'juicy stories.'
We're taken back to 1786 where the owner is business man Joseph Bloxam, who has acquired the property with ill-gotten gains and pays a very high price for his ruthless ways.
Don't mess with a soul which has been scorned.
Fast forward to the 1920s when the manor was owned by the 'indecently rich' Demomery family. Their son Felix decides to throw an engagement party and unwittingly awakens a curse that was set upon the house, with devastating consequences.
Returning to the present day, Ben decides to fix the door knocker to his new home and finds that sinister forces are still at play.
Brilliantly acted and written, guaranteed to spook you out.
