It's an MBE straight from Buckingham Palace.

Actress June Brown, who plays Dot (formerly Cotton) found out she'd be receiving her award for her services to drama and charity, in the summer.

After picking up her MBE, June said the experience was "quite remarkable" and added: "Dot would have been absolutely delighted.

"She's a great royalist and a fairly good Christian. She wavers off but so do we all."

June is the president of the Michael Elliot trust which gives special needs children the chance to work with and care for abandoned donkeys.

Nattering about her soap future she said: "Actors don't retire. Not unless they've lost their faculties."
