Jake Doland, Mick Naylor and Lee Naylor have apparently been chopped to make way for new characters.

Mick Naylor (Tony Haygarth) and his groundkeeper grandson Lee Naylor (Lewis Linford) were originally brought in to try and take the soap back to its rural roots. They had been envisaged as the start of a new farming super-family in the style of the Sugdens.

Series producer Gavin Blyth told Soaplife magazine: "Every character has their time in the show, some longer than others."

Troubled teen Jake Doland (James Baxter) is also filming his final scenes soon.
