Kara Tointon as Dawn SwanEastEnders star Kara Tointon sobbed when she was axed from the soap.

The actress broke down with an attack of the Walford waterworks when she heard Dawn Swann was up for the chop.

Kara told the Daily Star: "I was heartbroken when they told me and I have to admit I did cry.

"I just have to dust myself down and get back out there. I've already told them that if they do plan to kill Dawn, I will refuse to close my eyes in the dying scenes!"

Dawn and her unlikely onscreen partner Gary Hobbs (Ricky Groves) will bow out from the Square in a dramatic storyline this summer.

Although gutted about her EastEnders contract termination, Kara is rumoured to be dancing her blues away in Strictly this autumn. Current EastEnders characters are banned from taking part in the dancing competition because of the chaos it causes to soap filming schedules.
