Anita played by Saira ChoudhrySaira Choudhry as Anita RoyHollyoaks has never been one to shy away from controversial storylines.

And they've got another toughie coming up.

Teenager Anita Roy is set to take desperate measures in a bid to stop the racist bullying she's been suffering.

After being attacked by Gaz and his gang of thugs, who cover her in white paint to hide her skin colour, Anita decides she just wants to be like her friends. White.

Shocking scenes will see the schoolgirl hide in her room and scream with pain as she rubs kitchen cleaner on to her legs in a bid to bleach her skin.

Actress Saira Choudry, 17, explained: "She uses hair dye from the salon to try and bleach the skin on her legs and when that doesn't work she uses real bleach."

The desperate act leaves Anita with severe burns and sparks the wrath of her strict father who believes she is turning her back on her heritage.

Anita will even use a picture of her friend Theresa McQueen to pose as a white girl on websites in an attempt to make new friends.

But Saira thinks that tackling tough issues is a positive move for the soap: "It has been done really well and will show people who are suffering for real that it's not just them, that they are not alone."
