Susan BoyleSusan BoyleSusan Boyle's performance on America's Got Talent went down a storm.

But it turns out that the rendition of the song that won her a standing ovation from Sharon Osbourne and The Hoff could have been a product of TV trickery.

The Daily Star claims that US TV chiefs taped her performances in advance following worries that the reality star might suffer a meltdown in front of the cameras.

LA insiders confirmed that her cover of the Rolling Stones' song Wild Horses and a rendition of her Britain's Got Talent audition song I Dreamed A Dream were recorded 'as live' the night before.

Show bosses then blended her performance into the actual show, making it appear that she was singing live.

A show source told the newspaper: "Given Susan's history no-one was taking any chances."

"It was a sensible precaution to get her songs in the can. It took the pressure off her and enabled her to relax and give her best in front of her biggest ever audience."

Unfortunately, Su-Bo's people were unavailable for comment.

Whether reports are true or not, The Hairy Angel has well and truly cracked America following her US TV debut. Her album, titled I Dreamed A Dream, is expected to reach number one on both sides of the pond when it's released later this year. Susan said: "I'm not the wee frightened lassie I used to be."
