David Tennant's Doctor Who replacement Matt Smith has been hailed as "the best" by new show boss Steven Moffat.
He said: "Matt's all the things you'd expect, including ancient", and described the actor as "someone you can't take your eyes off."
"He’s not going to be the youthful doctor that people might expect – he’s a proper grown-up. His presence just screams ‘alpha male’ – but in a really odd way.
"If he walked through here now you would immediately get it," added Steven who has taken over as head writer for the 2010 series of the popular sci fi show.
But the new Doctor Who boss also admitted that he's under a lot of pressure to be a success.
"My biggest challenge right now is the writing of Episode 13," he confessed. "What if I broke Doctor Who? That would be a tragedy."
Steven is set to pen six of next year's 13 episodes. He promised fans "great stories," adding there would "joyous moments" as well as "heartbreak".
But it's not only the Doctor who will have regenerated for the new series. The Tardis has also undergone a makeover.
"There is a plot reason for it," confirmed Steven. "I always liked the Tardis from the Peter Cushing movies, and wanted to make it more like that".
And David Tennant recently hinted that the Doctor's famous sonic screwdriver will also be revamped.
The Waters Of Mars, the first of David's final three episodes will be broadcast on Sun 15 Nov at 7pm on BBC1.
His final story, The End Of Time, which will see him regenerate into Matt Smith's Doctor is expected to air over Christmas and New Year.
