Rhys Ashworth played by Andrew MossAndrew Moss Hollyoaks actor Andy Moss who plays Rhys Ashworth, has hit back at James Corden's criticism of the soap.

The Gavin and Stacey star once had a small role in the show, but said he would rather die than return.

In an interview last year with Esquire, James made his feelings about the show very clear: "I'd actually rather die than go back. It's f****** awful.

He continued: "It just breeds p***** - all these people walking around with this chicken-in-a-basket fame, talking about going to LA, you know?"

Jamie Lomas (Warren Fox) has recently quit the show to pursue a career Stateside and in a chat we had with Ricky Whittle he also mentioned he would love to work in the US.

When we spoke to Andy, he defended the show and joked: "We're not allowed to mention Hollyoaks in the same breath as Hollywood, because James Corden has been going around slagging us off."

Andy had a very clear message for James: "Shut your face and stop slagging us off. All you do is go around saying 'I'm fat, I'm fat' whilst your friend pulls funny faces."

He then joked: "He might give me a job one time because he's quite a good writer."

We're guessing Andy is referring to James' new show Horne & Corden which has been battered by the critics, and has lost over half of its audience in just three episodes. It's a bitter blow to the pair, whose first film Lesbian Vampire Killers has also flopped at the cinema.

Hmm, we don't reckon that phone will be ringing just yet Andy. We're sure this won't be the last of it...
