Cutting Edge: Special Needs PetsCutting Edge: Special Needs Pets Do people love their pets too much?

This is just one of the questions being asked in Channel 4's latest Cutting Edge exploration; Special Needs Pets.

Furthermore, just how would you be prepared to go for a pet with special needs?

From a rabbit in a wheelchair, to a parrot that's sexually disturbed, the show certainly isn't shying away from probing the unusual.

We meet Zoe, an animal sanctuary worker from North Wales, whose rabbit Ethel wears a nappy after losing the loss of her back legs. She also has a specially made wheelchair.

Zoe is convinced that her transport gives Ethel her mobility back and has a therapeutic effect.

There's also Katie the Jack Russell from Birmingham, who has a brain disorder that's left her with no sense of balance and who uses a stair-lift to get up the stairs in her owners house.

Cruel or kind? It's a tough one, but certainly a show that will provoke a response either way.
