You can’t always believe everything you read.
And we can stop at least one I’m A Celebrity rumour in its tracks.
The Sun reports today that Esther Rantzen has signed up for the hit jungle show, claiming that the consumer crusader would use her appearance to raise money for her charity Childline.
However, Esther’s agent, Billy Marsh Associates, say the claims simply aren’t true, citing the star’s age, 68, and that she simply: “Doesn’t need to do it.”
We don’t think that age should be a barrier to being queen of the jungle: Jan Leeming, 66, Christine Hamilton, 58, Jennie Bond, 58, and Janice Dickinson, 53, all survived bush tucker trials and nights in the open.
And a glamorous older lady always adds a touch of class to proceedings in the bush.
Esther spoke recently about getting the most out of life as you get older. “At 20 we thought we would live forever. Now, as some of those closest to us are taken from us we become very aware of our own mortality. Time is precious, and not to be wasted.”
Sentiments we applaud, whether or not she spends her precious time in the jungle.
