When someone dies intestate and no relatives can be found, their money goes to the government.
But sometimes even without a will, there’s a way.
Heir Hunters follows probate detectives Fraser & Fraser as they try to find relatives of the deceased to pass on cash. It’s a bit like CSI only instead of murder, its money. And a bit less glamorous, to be honest.
But there are plenty of emotional highs and lows as the detectives track down the rightful recipients and break to them the news - good and bad.
In this first episode they search for the family of Phyllis Broadwick who has left £200,000 but no will. That’s a life-changing sum of money but it’s also heartbreaking that she felt she didn’t have anyone to leave it to.
Still, there’s a cheery moment for one pensioner who receives an unexpected windfall and decides to take the trip of a lifetime.
