If there's one lady who knows the dos and don'ts of the awards shows it's Guiliana Rancic.
The Fashion Police veteran has walked the carpet, stalked others on the carpet, and chewed up and spat out those who look bad on the carpet. We talked to her about how to make sure the latter never happens.
The criticism of celeb's style on Fashion Police can be pretty close to the bone, have you ever been called out on the comments you make?
You know, to be a true fashionista you have to be on the best dressed list but you also have to be on the worst dressed list sometimes as that proves you’re taking chances. So, every now and then someone will say, “I hear you didn’t like the outfit I wore” but I laugh it off. It’s fashion, there are bigger problems in the world.
Do you ever worry about celebrities you’ve critiqued creating problems for you?
I used to worry about it but now I don’t at all. If I see a celebrity on the red carpet and I know I just spoke about them on Fashion Police I’ll laugh it off and say, “Surely you have more important things going on in your life then us talking about what you’re wearing?”
So, no-one’s fallen out with you?
No! Not at all!
What about your fashion, do you make mistakes?
I get called out a lot by Joan when I come on set. She’ll say, “Is that you dress or wardrobe’s?” And if I say it’s wardrobe’s she’ll say, “give it back”. (Laughs). Or if she likes it, she’ll say, “keep it”.
Aside from Joan’s tips, what are your red carpet dos and don’t?
Always wears heels, never cross the red carpet in flats. Every outfit looks better with a pair of four inch heels, or higher. Also, you definitely have to be polished; if you want to be red carpet beautiful you have to be perfectly put together.
Obviously, it’s not always going to happen. There are times when I go on the red carpet and I’m not 100 per cent and that’s ok but later when I look at the pictures I’m like, “Oh! What was I thinking? Y’know?”
How tall are you, Giuliana? Just trying to work out how big you’ll be in those fourinch heels…
(Laughs a lot). I’m 5ft 8 so usually I’m 6ft on the red carpet. I always wear heels, whether I’m at the grocery store or on the red carpet I love heels. My husband’s 6ft 3 so I’m always just a couple of inches shorter than him.
I see. So it’s not like you’re dating alleged shorty Tom Cruise.
(shocked pause). Exactly.

Woop, woop! It's da sound of the po-leeece. The fashion police that is, and it's a siren that the celebs on the red carpet are terrified of hearing.
We chatted to Inspector George Kotsiopoulos (not a real inspector) about what's hot and what's grot when the A-listers strut their stuff at the awards shows.
He also offers some budget tips for looking great that even we mere mortals can take advantage of. Listen in to make sure you don't get a ticket for crimes against style.
