Joan Rivers is living with her daughter Melissa in Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? on E!
We sat down for a chat with Melissa to find out what season three of the show has in store...
Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? is back for a new series - what do you think of the subtitle, do you think Joan knows best?
Sometimes she does but she think she does all the time!
What can you tell us about the Melissa we will see in season three? What's different about her?
I let you follow me into some therapy and I deal with a lot of issues women deal with between the ages of 35-40. My son is growing up, my mother is getting older, I’m single and dealing with different relationships and learning to let go and move forward.
We also understand that you're going to be taking a trip over here to London this season! Tell us a bit about your trip. What were the highlights?
I go over to London for some work for Fashion Police and my Mum happens to be there at the same time on tour which was fantastic.
I met someone pretty amazing, someone lovely while I was in London, so that was the highlight of the trip.
Now, Joan is as busy as ever, but we hear a rumour that she may take bringing her work home with her a little too literally when she starts to set up an internet talk show in your basement! Can you tell us anymore about that?
Yes, we have a wonderful show that’s out there now called In Bed with Joan.
This is what I get for saying something vacuously in a meeting – which is ‘why don’t you just do another show out of my house?’ But it has turned into something pretty fantastic.
Are there any advantages to having your Mum stay with you?
I love her to death and she is great with Cooper and it is wonderful to have her but it is definitely trying at times.
We work together and she lives in my house and typical of any mother, and especially mine, she sees it as her house and I’m here but it’s actually the opposite.
What about the disadvantages?
Everyone reverts back to their old roles so she is always trying to tell me what to as if I was still a teenager.
I often have to remind her it is my house and my rules and I’m an adult to which she tells me that I’m completely wrong in all my opinions.
Do you think your Mum is ever going to move out? If she did, would you miss her?
Of course I would miss her but there’s is a house across the street for sale that she has been looking at so even her version of moving out isn’t really moving out.
What else can we look forward to in season three?
Season three was very much a roller-coaster - we tackled a lot of stuff both personally and professionally - and what’s so interesting is that we work very much in this strange world, that people don’t necessary understand how it works, yet all of our issues are very normal and what everybody goes through
Using just three words, how would you sum up season three?
Laugh, cry, smile.
I often have to remind her it is my house and my rules...
