Rik, Effie and ChrisWe never thought we'd see the day but the glamour in Emmerdale is set to step up a notch as a trio of stars join the cast this autumn.

Meet the Sharma family.

Charmer Jai (Chris Bisson, East Is East), ambitious Nikhil (Rik Makarem, Torchwood) and fun-loving Priya (Effie Woods, Hollyoaks In The City) will hit screens in September when the siblings arrive to manage the new confectionery factory and cause havoc with the locals.

Series producer Gavin Blyth promised that the young, contemporary family will add "real vitality to life in Emmerdale".

The introduction of the trio is the latest in a series of new signings for the soap. Other arrivals coming up include Cutting It actress Sian Reeves as Sally Spode and the much-anticipated return of Charity Tate, when Emma Atkins reprises her role in October.
