The Streets frontman Mike Skinner in Doctor Who, apparently.

Mike made the announcement on Twitter this week, suggesting that he'll be joining new Doctor Matt Smith in the fifth series of the long-running sci fi show.

"You wouldn't believe the week I've had," tweeted Mike.

"I can't talk about it but let's just say I got a part in Doctor Who."

After a few hours the message was removed, and the singer told fans fans: "And just like that the tweet is deleted."

A spokesperson for the show said: "We do not comment on speculation surrounding possible characters in the show."

The new 13-episode series is due to air next spring, and will follow three Doctor Who specials with David Tennant later this year.
