Susan Boyle had to be subtitled for her appearance on Oprah Winfrey's chat show.
Her thick Scottish accent was too much for the US audience.
Susan pre-recorded a welcome speech to viewers which had subtitles, but they were dropped when Oprah interviewed her live.
Dubbed the hairy angel, Susan's performance of I Dreamed A Dream on Britain's Got Talent has led to worldwide recognition.
She talked about how she was handling her new-found fame and said she was 'loving every second' but told Oprah she was taking it in her stride: "It all takes a bit of time to take in,"
"Things have happened so quickly."
Susan also defended her much talked about makeover by saying: "It was just to tidy myself up like any other female would have done."
Simon Cowell was also on the show and he played down the makeover by saying that it was her voice and not her looks that people concentrate on. He told Susan: "It's all about you and your singing voice now.
"Whatever you feel comfortable with, you do."
When Simon asked whether Susan wanted to win the competition she diplomatically said: "I have every chance, but at the same time, there's a lot of other talent in the competition, so I'm willing to take my place with them."
