X Factor bosses are in talks trying to ensure that the best finalists don't fall into the bottom two.
The move comes followin this weekend's shocking result which found Danyl Johnson and girl band Miss Frank singing for survival.
Now bosses are concerned about the way the show is going with the good acts languishing in the bottom, and discussions are being held in how the can rectifiy the situation.
A source told The Sun: "They need to work out whether they've given the acts the best songs."
Simon Cowell was livid when he saw that Danyl was close to getting the boot, especially as the Reading teacher had given another sterling performance with his version of Feeling Good.
When Danyl had found out he was singing to stay in the competition he was gutted. An insider said: "He was stunned to be in the bottom two, he thought he was the best thing in the show."
Simon commented: "I think it's a joke you're in the position you're in, a total joke.
"If this is your last performance, Danyl, I've never ever heard anyone go out on such a high."
Danyl has since slipped from being odds on to win the show and now Geordie lad Joe McElderry is the bookies' favourite.
Once again, terrible twins John and Edward Grimes survived the public vote and were put through to the next round.
Their survival has riled fans and there has been talk of viewers boycotting the show.
